Less than a week to go!

Off on Friday to SA and I feel like a pack horse! No room in the suitcase for clothes - but lots of other stuff. Everyone and his neighbour seems to think that because I am going, I am also available as a free courier service!

I am looking forward to seeing the kids - but not sure about the whole thing. These trips are never really a holiday for me.

However, I will get my tooth fixed! Oh wow - what a thing to be excited about.

Anyway - won't be able to post til I get back - so will let you know how it goes then.

Tuesday Morning - and the Sun Is Shining!

Welcome to a sunshine London - a wonderful place.

Beth and Tim finally departed on Saturday evening leaving me in peace and to get some sleep before having to get up at 4.30 to WORK on Sunday. Blech! Talk about being bleary eyed.

Not sure what the outcome of B & T will be - not even sure if I can say they are keen on each other - perhaps I have lost my touch completely. I know Beth finds Tim's drinking and smoking an issue (boy can he smell of booze the morning after). And to be honest Beth has some issues relating to self-confidence that hamper her. I hope it works for them but I am not holding my breath.

Work is busy and it is nearly time for me to leave for SA - loaded down like a mule as usual.

Charlie will be here this weekend - so that should be fun - and apart from that - no news is good news.

Have a fun day.

Tuesday 16 May

I survived walking half of London - but only just. Managed to aggravate my plantars fascitis - OUCH - but the aquarium was fun.

Other than that - nothing to report.

Another Week Gone

And six weeks til I go to SA to see the kids. I had to laugh at the shopping list that arrived from Tal - pages and pages of it. When I asked Dayne what he would like for his birthday on the 21st I got - 'Don't know'. How different they are.

I guess I shall have to go shopping at some point to buy some of the things they have asked for - but I am not spending like I have in the past. Specially not if I want to see Canada next year.

End of last week was a bit like hell - got to work on Friday morning - only to find out that the office re-organisation - which wasn't suppose to happen just yet was happening that day. So of course, not a lot of much got done workwise - and I've been playing catch-up since.

Apart from the above - nothing much to report. Later alligator.

Another Day - Another Dollar

It seems as though I've just turned round and gotten over Xmas and New Year and already a third of the year had vanished! It's a nasty conspiracy to make me feel old!

I have absolutely nothing to report this week - except I am back on track with my diet and exercising and it was a lovely feeling this morning when the belt notched in another notch! Yeeeha! You go girl!

I must be getting addicted to exercise - I find I miss it if I don't have my daily fix and I am ruminating on how to get into a gym every day while I am in SA. How strange is that for me - the worlds biggest exercise-phobe or perhaps it is just understanding how much benefit I am getting out of it. For anyone who can't get motivated to exercise get hold of the book - Younger Next Year (it comes in two versions - one for men and one for women). It will change your mind on why you should.

Looking forward to the Bank Holiday weekend coming up - for a really odd reason. It gives me a chance to wash the curtains! Something i have been meaning to do for a couple of weeks but just not had the chance. I like it when my home is clean and tidy and looking good.

Off to the dentist tomorrow - should be fun - routine check-up and a scale and polish. Love how my teeth feel after a good cleaning. I know, I know - I'm strange.

Enough rambling for the week. Have a wonderful one and catch you next week.

Madrid is Wonderful

After spending all night awake - to catch our 5am flight, we arrived in Madrid to SUNSHINE!

We left our bags as the hotel and went off wandering - walking all the way down to the Retiro (a huge and lovely park) just off the Calla del Prado. Unfortunately Charlie was still suffering from the after effects of her recent chest infection and couldn't walk all that far - but we took a slow stroll back to the hotel, booked in and had a siesta (a great institution). Later we went looking for a tabaconist - and discovered a great plaza just of the Avenida Filipe II - and ended up in a pavement cafe (driving the staff nutty by ordering wine with ice) - something that quickly became a holiday tradition!

Good Friday was spent wandering around the Plaza Mayor, the Palacio Real and the Teatro Real and discovering the joys of the Madrid Metro - an absolute joy by comparison to LUL! And dirt cheap - 1.20 Euro per trip - or 6.15 Euro for a 10 trip pass - which can be used on either buses or the metro. Whole system very easy to negotiate and although a lot of the Madrelino's don't speak English - this was never a barrier to communications.

Saturday was spent shopping - including buying a magnificent ceramic from a wonderful little gallery on the same Plaza. Managed to get a couple of wonderful presents for my folks and a couple of dinky things for the kids.

Sunday Charlie was feeling poorly - so I ended up going out alone to the Retiro again - and just relaxing and reading my book. The only downside to the whole experience was the 4 hour delay in the plane ride home - but even that didn't dampen my enthusiasm for Madrid - I will be back!
